O4O is made real through the involvement of people like you joining up with one of our teams. Each of these teams is an integral link, a spoke in the wheel of O4O. Please consider signing up – leave your contact information – and become part of the human rights struggle for housing!

Eviction Watch: This team is responsible for organizing and quantifying public support for those facing eviction whether from a home under foreclosure or a vacant home under occupation, and when necessary mobilizing that support in order to prevent eviction. Research: This team is responsible for identifying, through on-site and on-line capabilities, vacant housing that could and should be transformed into homes for those in need and making this research available for use by the other teams. Contact this team at research@o4onyc.org.

Media: This team is responsible for all aspects of O4O media, including drafting press statements, training media spokespeople, writing articles on our work, developing friendly press contacts and providing our website with news updates and film footage. Contact this team at media@o4onyc.org.

Construction: This team is responsible for the hands-on construction required to meet the security and renovation needs of those residing in both foreclosed and occupied vacant housing, for training house occupants in construction skills, and for securing and storing construction tools and materials. Arts: This team is responsible for bringing together artists who are inspired to create art in various media that supports, expresses, and enhances the campaign and work of O4O. Contact this team at arts@o4onyc.org.

Screening: This team is responsible for outreaching to and interviewing prospective homesteaders in need who are seeking a place to live, identifying capabilities and special requirements and matching them up to suitable venues for occupation. Contact this team at screening@o4onyc.org.

Legislative: This team is responsible for building support for legislative efforts which help to facilitate the mission of O4O, e.g., mandated vacant building counts (Intro 48), affirmative urban homesteader and “sweat equity” legislation, moratorium on evictions legislation, legislation designed to penalize banks and lending entities for fraud. Academic: The Team is responsible for building support for O4O through the publication and dissemination of progressive housing, urban planning, and modern homesteading ideas and concepts in order to help rationalize and justify the work of O4O in public / intellectual discourse. Religious: The Team is responsible for organizing support for the mission of O4O within the wider religious community and offering public spiritual support and witness to those engaged in the O4O campaign. Contact this team at o4o@o4onyc.org.
