Take Back the Land
The Take Back the Land- Movement is a national network of organizations dedicated to elevating housing to the level of a human right and securing community control over land. The Movement must be led by impacted communities and is firmly rooted in ‘Positive Action’ campaigns, including those which break the immoral laws which allow banks to gain billions in profit while human beings are made homeless.
No One Leaves
Project No One Leave’s mission is to empower citizens living in foreclosed properties to protect their homes and communities through grassroots organizing, legal education, and civic engagement. We aim to bring together tenants and owners, students and neighbors, and individuals of all backgrounds to achieve this common purpose.
In Boston, Massachusetts, Project No One Leaves works in conjunction with City Life/Vida Urbana to inform tenants and former homeowners of their rights. We also work with legal services lawyers to fight post-foreclosure evictions, and we work with Boston Community Capital to help some former homeowners buy back their homes.
Chicago Anti-Eviction
The Chicago Anti-Eviction Campaign will continue struggling to stop all economically-motivated evictions Chicago. We are no longer willing to wait for any authority to institute our human right to housing. A public housing resident is just one of thousands of people in similar situations. The banks were bailed out. The auto industry was bailed out. The time for a bail-out of the people at the bottom is long past-due. We are calling for a national moratorium on economically-motivated evictions. In the mean time, we are instituting a people’s moratorium on evictions by putting our bodies in front of sheriffs and putting our people back in their homes.
